Mountain Ministries was started in 1978 by Alicia and Bill Spear. Their four children have grown up in the middle of the resort communities that MM serves. It hasn't been easy for them (a huge understatement!) to have hundreds of 18-35 year olds in and out of their "space" while they were just trying to adjust to life. They have done incredibly well although each has their own view of that! Aaron is an electrical engineer and lives in Evergreen outside of Denver with his wife Jayne who is a counselor . Darragh is a Nurse Practitioner living in Chatanooga TN. with her husband Jeff, who works for Generous Giving, an educational extension of the Maclellan Foundation. Jeremiah "JJ" is living in Denver, finished his degree in aviation at Metro College in Denver, and is pursuing his commercial licence in aviation. Hannah works in Dillon with Mountain Ministries and Copper Mountain Ski Patrol.

Alicia's father Harold ran Union Gospel mission in St. Paul where Alicia learned what the streets are really all about. Alcoholics and down and out guys taught her compassion and gave her a desire to counsel. Alicia has an MA in counseling from Denver Seminary. Bill graduated from CSU with a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, and from Denver Seminary with an MA in Philosophical Apologetics. Both are applying what they learned on a daily basis.
